Primary Data Sources
- National Institutes of Health (NIH): C3PI (Computational Photography Project for Pill Identification) reference images, DailyMed FDA-approved drug labeling
- Food & Drug Administration (FDA): National Drug Code (NDC) directory, openFDA drug labels, adverse event data, and safety information
- RxNorm (National Library of Medicine): Standardized drug nomenclature, clinical drug identifiers (RxCUI), ingredient and dose form data
- GPT-4o (OpenAI): Multimodal vision model for image-based pill identification
How We Use Sources
RXID queries live API endpoints from these federal sources. Text search uses RxNorm, attribute search uses openFDA, barcode lookup uses the NDC directory, and photo identification uses GPT-4o cross-referenced with FDA data. All data originates from official government databases.
